    global acceptance credit company l.p.

ok got a letter today from this outfit stating they have recently purchaced and now OWN your ACCOUNT.all rights have been transferred to us. then it goes on to say got 30 days to dispute the validity of it etc.
I have looked them up and it seems they also sell debt they have purchaced.
Question is they got the right acct number money due is there any reason to even make them validate this or just continue holding out to see what there next step will be.

Sending them a DV request (by certified mail) won't do any harm.

It may (or may not) also provide you with ammunition for a dispute somewhere further down the line.

    My $0.02 only...

    Good luck.
No person in their right mind files a Ch. 13 with lien strip pro se. I have. Therefore, please consider me insane and clinically certifiable when reading my posts, and DO NOT take them as legal advice of any kind.Thank you.

Sounds like yet another junk debt buyer.
Write a letter, not just a regular DV, but a letter alleging that this debt is the product of identity theft and that you have unsuccessfully attempted to resolve this with the original creditor.
That will really muck things up if they don't have original records and receipts and they try to sue you.
filed chapter 13..confirmed...converted to chapter 7...DISCHARGED!

CL, LOL. In addition, you should be "concerned" about any red-flag violations as pertaining to the information a third party may have on you due to an original creditor. Copy your letter to the CA/JDB to the original creditor, also. The concern of the potential that the OC has no policy related to your identity protection in light of the FTC "red-flag rules" seems to really foul things up. It has for me. I had two debts with credit unions that were sent to CA's who sub-contracted with another CA. I questioned the protection of my security with the OC, citing the third (fourth) party collection effort and suggested they (OC) were in violation of federal law protecting my identity. Everyone backed down and I have not heard a word for about a year.

An estimated nine million Americans have their identities stolen each year. Identity thieves may drain accounts, damage credit, and even put medical treatment at risk. The cost to business — left with unpaid bills racked up by scam artists — can be staggering, too.

What do the rules mean? I have no clear idea, but many seem frightened of them.
