We've been making payments for almost two years on all of our credit cards through a credit counseling service. This is the kind that negotiated a lower rate for us and disburses the monthly payments, not the kind that does debt payoff and gets you in worse debt. This was a legitimate company, and I've been very happy with how they've helped us. However, we've made the decision to file Ch.7, and this is the first month I have told them not to pay any of my creditors.
So, my question is whether the credit card companies will sue me more quickly than they would normally sue someone who had been paying them directly. Does that make sense? All of my accounts are listed as "handled by credit counseling service" on my credit report, and they are all current. So, do you think I'm more likely to get sued quickly now that I'm stopping payments after using the service, or do you think they'll handle it the same way they'd handle Joe-Shmoe who just stopped paying?
