Can I just tell DCA on phone to stop calling?

    Hi --

Gee, haven't been here for 5 or 6 weeks and you've changed the place...
had to go thru hoops to get on the forum. Can't say I like the new "Look"...who was so bored they had to do all this?? What all are these "points" and "levels" and stuff under names??

Anyway...I mailed out 7 or 8 "cease and desist" letters in early October. Just regular first class mail, no proof of delivery. I would say the calls have lessened...but I am seeing one agency (CBE if you're playing at home) that still calls 3x a day. I don't want to talk to anyone...but if I do pick up the phone, can I simply TELL them to stop calling?? Is that
    something they must respond to?
I'm assuming that if I say "you can't be calling me I sent you a letter" they
will just say they didn't get it...I was trying to avoid all the expense (and believe me $5 buys a lot right now) of certifying delivery.

P.S. And how can I be here nearly a year yet be "three months registered" according to first icon under "achievements"???

It's all explained here (and try other the tabs to get the all the details of your existence here).

You get an "achievement" award for being here longer than 7 days, 31 days, 3 months, 1 year, and over 3 years. You have to live for one more month to get your next "achievement" award.

As far as the phone calls, you are right, they will just deny they ever received any C&D letter from you, since there was no proof of delivery. About all you can do is send them another one with a CMRR, and hope they pay attention. Or, just stop answering their calls using caller ID.

Practically speaking, telling the caller on the phone to stop calling won't do anything. I think you now have to send a certified letter to this creditor.

I'm "3 months registered" too, and I've been here about as long as you. Oh well.
