    MRS Associates...playing a game?

Just this week I have had daily calls to my cellphone from 914-410-6941.
First call today came at 6:50 AM Central time...even on Eastern time that would be too early!

Anyway...I got another call midday and decided to call back...a barely intelligible woman answered, and I asked what type of company this was and I think she said "financial services." (Believe me, very hard to understand her!) I asked the name and she said "MRS." I told her to stop calling my cellphone and she said she needed to know who I was first.
I admit I said in a snotty tone, "You must know who I am, you've been calling me all week!" She replied that I did not have to get nasty...
and that I had to FAX my do-not-call request to them, and gave me a fax number.

I Googled MRS and they are indeed an "account receivables recovery" company, among other things. It occurred to me after I got off the phone that I still don't know which credit card they are representing. I also don't seem to have any mail from this company.

So I typed up a cease and desist calls letter and also asked for the name, address of original creditor and amount they are seeking.

Put it in fax machine...surprise...the fax never goes thru. Have tried 4x now. I get the "busy/no response" printout from the machine. I'm guessing this fax will NEVER go thru?? Is this a ploy to get me to call back and ask for their address?? I see the address on their webpage but who knows if that is the "right" address for a D&D/DV letter.

Anyway...should I keep trying the fax, see if they keep calling, what?
I don't want to do the expense and bother of a certified letter if the fax truly will take care of it...what do you think?

I was REALLY pissed at the too-early phone call this morning...but my cellphone won't do a printout and the date/time stamp gets wonky at times...not reliable. It's only my word that I saw what the clock said when I heard the cell ring!

nickifan, I would send two certified letters to their address of record that you were able to google. One requesting debt verification followed by the C&D letter. That way you have proof it was delivered at the address obtained and if they do not stop and do not validate, you can get some $$ off of them. I would not waste more time trying the fax.
