    Northland Group Inc.

We filed CH7 on Friday 8/27. My wife had an American Airlines credit line through Citibank (South Dakota) N.A. that she was not even 30 days late on at the time of filing. Citibank was the only creditor persistently calling, so on 8/21, when we knew our filing date with certainty, we told Citibank that we were filing CH7, talk to our attorney. It took them exactly 1 day from that call to "assign" the account to this outfit called Northland Group and for them to generate a settlement offer letter to us dated 8/23. We received the letter in the mail yesterday, 8/28, and promptly emailed our attorney.

Now, our attorney says we don't need to amend our creditor matrix and schedules to include this outfit, nor that we need to contact them to let them know of filing date and case #, that notice to OC will suffice. Since I've never dealt with this, can someone please let me know if what he recommended is indeed the way to go? I have no reason to doubt him, but just need some validation.

    Thank you

joe....tom...JOE!!!! drugs are still wearing off this morning, but i slept well...LOL!...

    nope...you don't need to do a thing.

you need to remember, although you have filed, it many times does not stop the calling and collection attempts. however, until the creditors receive the actual documents from the court they will continue to try to collect what they are owned and more adding fees etc.

as long as you named the original creditor on the petition you will be fine. i know many times AFTER an account goes into bankruptcy or during the interim, the orginal creditor sells the debt when they shouldn't. some people especially the older debtors, ones that can easy get scared actually begin payments to them!

give them your docket number next time they call or if they attempt to contact you and let them know that are in violation of federal law...end of story...or call them and let them know you doc number and tell them to stop to attempt collecting from you.

Thanks tobee. My attorney just emailed 3 minutes ago telling me not to worry...LOL. I gotta give it to the guy though, answering my emails on Sunday morning. Lesson learned here: If you're dealing with Citibank, don't tell them squat other than stringing them along, they will pass the account to a CA faster than you can blink even if not even 30-day late.

Even after a year and a half ago we filed and are still getting calls.

Most of them know not to call back again.

They didn't call, they mailed a settlement offer. I am as of right now 26 days late with that account.
