Unless you used express mail, you will not get a refund from the USPS. They lost two lawsuit packages I sent, which show they never left my home post office. I sent them CMRRR. I was told that there are no guarantees unless you pay the 14 bucks for Express mail, which is the only one guaranteed to be delivered.

I resent them Fedex, for less.

Besides, Discover cashed the check, so there is your proof that they received it.

Being an employee of USPS for over 35 years I will thro my opinion out there. When sending anything of importance I would use Registered Mail as that is hand to hand everywhere it goes. It can be tracked via paperwork from office to office. I'm not sure but I think that all registers are now, additionally, input electronically so they also may be tracked that way. Granted, it will take a bit longer to get to there but the handling of registered mail is strictly monitored. As for Express, well, I have seen more of this go "missing" than it should. The problem is that it is not really tracked as well as UPS or FedEx. The irony of it all is we use FedEx to fly our Express to processing centers and then we deliver.

Also note that a lot of credit card processing centers have a separate non-PO Box address to accept Fedex and UPS shipments.

I have been using FedEx, print and pay for my labels online. I discovered that if I pay for the 2 day delivery and the destination is semi-local business address with a "fixed" delivery schedule, it gets there the next day anyway. Not sure if the same principle works for residential or long distances, but it has been quite handy for my purposes.

You learned my secret! Shhhhhh! Don't tell anyone. That's why I never pay for Next Day AM when sending things to the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, since they are guaranteed to be getting deliveries anyhow. So I pay for next afternoon.

But-but-but 2nd day works just as well, is even cheaper than next afternoon. They still got it the next morning.

Yes, but if it ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY has to be there overnight...

Not always and most things I had stopped sending overnight to the Clerk. I finally realized that it only needed to be filed, so sending it with USPS regular First Class mail sufficed most of the time. But, if it absolutely positively needed signatures and guaranteed delivery... FedEx was the only carrier I trusted. Whenever I was the moving party in a motion, or for my complaint, I used FedEx for all things that I filed with the Court.

I only filed in person on the day I submitted my petition, and one other time. Everything else was by the mail!
