I have a question about travelers checks. I know a lot of folks use them when they're afraid that their bank accounts might be frozen and they want to keep their cash on hand without keeping actual cash in their home. I ran this by a friend and she told me it sounded risky. She said, "isn't that just like keeping cash in your place? Couldn't you get robbed?" I know that travelers checks can be replaced if you have the receipt, but isn't there a chance that both the checks and the receipts could get stolen or destroyed or something if they're both in my home? It seems like I'm taking a chance. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where to keep the receipts to make sure they're safe?
Also, are these checks on record with anyone? Will the creditor be able to pull my file with whoever issues the checks to see that I have them?
