We had a rep from the bank who had our car loan come to our house.
He left a letter warning legal action stuck in our front door.
This was Iberia Bank, a large bank in Louisiana, not a payday loan place.
We ended up letting the car go to sheriff's auction, but it was very
very weird having them show up at our house.

One guy wouldn't quit knocking so he went out the back door, walked around then explained that if he didn't leave there was a real good chance that he'd meet the deity of his preference... that day. I don't think that guy ever came back. I'm not sure whether it was the really serious look or the large caliber pistol that he had with him.
He went to the Sheriff's Office and paid $30 to have a "Trespass Warning" served upon one guy. If he came back on the property he'd be arrested.

why dont you just send them a Cease and Desist Letter to the business - along with a restraining order for harrassment for coming onto your property (or something along those lines)? There has to be something to protect you from the harrassment of them coming to your home and doing such things.
You're putting up with too much crap in my opinion - they're only going to get away with what you let them get away with. Grab a video camera and video tape them every time they start - and in your letter (and on the camera) tell them you will be providing a copy of this tape as evidence of harrassment for your restraining order. SOMETHING has to fall under Fair Debt Collection Practices here... they're violating some kind of law.. have to be. Call your AG or something....

Damnit - I wish they did this stuff around Vegas, I'd love to talk to some of those guys. I have this smirk combined with a small under-the-breath laugh I use when I talk to people like this in person. I don't do the Columbo thing, but I'm getting better at pissing them off without having to say much :-)
Seriously - I can't believe they're going this far. I moved to Vegas from Houston TX, and if someone pulled that crap in Houston, I think they'd be met at the door with a gun over the homeowner's shoulder simply being asked politely 'Can I help you?' Hell, even a few years after I moved here, I used to keep a rifle behind a small nook hidden by the entrance to the door and I've had to pull it a couple times when an overly aggressive salesman put his hand against the door to block me from closing it. My wife didn't like me doing that so it's upstairs now.
