heads up on Judgement lien removal

I just wanted to share my experience with stripping a judgement lien. I was sued before we were able to file bk chapter 7. We tried to fight it but lost and a lien was put on our home. We had to pay our lawyer extra to have the judgement vacated before the bk closed. Everything went fine and our lawyer said that the lien would be removed. Well... I kept checking the registry of deeds and I noticed that nothing was filed stating that the lien was removed or satisfied. I checked back with our attorney and apparently the creditor is "supposed" to file something that releases their lien and they never did. our attorney contacted them and told them that they had to file a release with the registry of deeds, they said they would but didnt. Our attorney decided it would be best if he did it himself. so just keep an eye on this, I imagine 20 years from now it would have been much more difficult to correct. Or suppose I died, my children would not have know that this lien was invalid. By the way it has been 6 months since our bk closed, it was very stressful at the time but I do not regret doing it, thank god for a fresh start! Worth every gray hair!
