    Do I have a judgement?

    New to this fantastic forum!

I had a copy of a summons that was sent (by mail.) I am in Los Angeles, California area, law firm is from San Jose. I was never served -- just showed up in mail about 6 months after date issued w/court.

Question: How do I find out if I have a judgement against me and how do I go about getting a Claim of Exemption before any garnishments or liens? Is this all through courthouse?

    Thanks for any responses!

      Look for something like this...

But only in California, instead of Arizona.

Then you just put in your first and last name and see what comes up in terms of lawsuits and judgments. And pay attention to the date of birth of the defendent. My name is a rather common name, so it comes up a lot, but with a different date of birth. Someone with my name has been a very naughty boy in deed!
      The world's simplest C & D Letter:
"I demand that you cease and desist from any communication with me."
Notice that I never actually mention or acknowledge the debt in my letter.

        Thanks Goingdown...

I'm going down to courthouse -- not far from where I live -- and I want to file a complaint, as I believe the summon doc's were forged/fabricated. Stated I was physically served and I was not. Hell, I don't think I was even in town on the date wrote down.

        Anyway, thank you.

I did have a judgment. "Sewer" services -- never served. I don't know if it matters -- will have discharged in BK and judgment removed. Still filling complaint w/California Attorney General & State Bar.
