    Already calling my job.

I'm kinda shocked they are already calling my job. I got to work today and one of the girls told me some woman called for me. I never get calls from anyone at work so I know it was one of them. Discover I'm the latest on going on three months. Every time they call tho it's automated. The rest are less than one month behind so kinda threw me for a loop that they are already calling my job. I gotta get that money saved for attorney. I think I'll start answering the phone at home and just telling them sorry I have no money. I don't really think that will stop them from calling the job though, I dunno.

Well if they get you at home then the should not call the job. And the ones that do call at your job just tell them they can't call you there because it could get you fired.

then why put your job phone on the application?

They are just doing their job...

That is a weak excuse at best..if someone thought they may get fired
then they would never include their work number on the creditors application,
and do you really think they care if your employer lets you go?

I am not an attorney and any advice given is simply opinion based on my personal experiences. Always ask an attorney before making legal decisions.

Its only law until you send the stop calling me letter..until then; they are just doing their job.

and you are mixing words up..I think it is a weak excuse to tell them not to call "Because it
could get me fired" I would just send a letter to stop all communications, why does not matter...

They called my wife's boss yesterday. How long ago did you stop making payments before they called your job? It's only been a couple of months for us.

Discover is going on it's third month of being late. The rest are one month a little over over on a couple. Don't know which one called work though. I'm not worried about losing my job. I'm not the first person there to have a CC or CA calling.

You have the right to tell them that your employer does not allow personal calls and that you could get reprimanded. Once you inform them of this they are in violation of the FDCPA if they continue to call at work.

Wow you must be a collector or something.

You can stop all the calls at work really easily. First, actually answer their calls at your home. Wow, what a novel idea! Instead of ducking the calls, actually talk to them. Then when you have them on the phone you simply tell them that your work has a policy against personal calls at work.

While that is all that is required to keep them from calling your work, a certified letter gives you the proof should you want to attempt to sue them later.

When creditors would call me, I would answer the call, confirm that I was indeed the deadbeat they were looking for but then I would tell them that at this time I refuse to discuss my personal financial situation with them.

You should have heard the stuff that came from the other end of the phone. No one can make you discuss anything that you don't wish to discuss. I told the collectors that we could talk about the weather, the Braves or the war in Iraq but if they asked about my financial situation again I would hang up. And that is what I did.

Sometimes, I'd end the calls with "Same time tomorrow, Ms. Smith?" They are just doing their job, trying to pay their bills. Many days we'd both be laughing on the phone joking. Other days I'd get someone threatening me with horrible consequences if I didn't pay right away.

YOU ARE IN CONTROL - Remember that.

Come on JackDog, those days are gone (see my highlight in red above)...LOL! What's wrong with saying an employee or co-worker? If you said that in my office or most offices out there, the "girls" would get on you big time, would probably report it and get you called into HR for a warning, review of office policy and possibly given in-house training as part of that warning. There are "guy" assistants/receptionists also, now more than ever...Just fair warning - make sure you don't use the term "honey," "my girl" or "sweetie" as that can really do you in!

Correct - when you fill out the credit/loan application, you are always asked to provide "the name, address and contact information for your closest relative", the name address and phone of your employer and if you read all the fine print as to what you allow them to do if you do not pay your bill, you will be surprised as to what you allow them to do. Advise the caller you are not allowed to take personal calls at work and follow it up with a letter stating the date and time of that phone call. Won't work if they have your cell phone number though and you answer that at work...

I think Jackdog is a girl too...thats just a term we use for our co workers. If it had been a man she probably would have said " one of the Guys " . I don't think that's offensive

Just assuming the ID "JackDog" is a guy... Geez if someone heard that in my office or in the office of other firms I work with...The HR extensions would light up big time - LOL! Could also be kept as a notation in one's personnel file. Gotta change the mindset to protect one's job...gotta be careful in today's world.

I take your point, it does sound like a Guy, but I think from one of the other threads I got the impression that Jack is Female
