Could this be a collection call already?!

So one week ago, last Friday, we did not make the min. pmt on a CC (for the first time). Not late on anything else at this point. They immediately (by the following Monday) were calling the # we have listed with them (cell). Not leaving a message, but I googled the #s they're using and it is them.
This morning our home phone rings with an 800 #. No message. I googled it and found a thread with tons of posters complaining about that #. It is a collection agency. Is there any way our credit card company would already have a collection agency involved?! Or is it just coincidence/wrong number/looking for someone else? I'm not afraid of the phonecalls...I know they're inevitable...but I certainly didn't expect to be dealing with a collection agency one week after missing our first payment!

Nope. They start calling within a week of missing the first payment. You will be bombarded by the 2 week mark.
First consult: You go now, no CH 7 for you. You spent entire buffet. 13 has a 95 percent payback. (Owwwch) On to next consult....

But, "They" meaning the CC company or a collection agency they turned the account over to? I expected to receive calls from the CC company pretty quickly, but assumed they would not turn it over to a collection agency until a few months down the line...
      ?

CC company most likely. Depending on who it is, takes a while to get to CAs.

it looks like your CC may outsource everything to the CA...
