I haven't worked in over a year due to health problems, layoffs, and various other circumstances. I have a couple of dollars in my checking account, no income, and my only assets are some clothes & an old car that's been damaged by rats. Wires, hoses, connectors all chewed through and feces all over the floor mats. I live with my mom and sister and everything in the house belongs to them.
I mailed the attorney the fact sheet and asks about income, real estate, and motor vehicles. I listed the car value at $500 and included the original title application form showing I paid $500 for it. I wrote on the back it's damaged by rats.
Today, I received a letter advising about the judgment. It says their client can execute the following.
A. Garnish Wages. I have none.
B. Foreclose Real Estate. I have none,.
C. Attach your personal property.
D. Take your deposition.
I'm guessing they will take my deposition making me appear in court to tell them about my personal finances. I don't think they're going to send a sheriff to my residence and search for belongings. Has anyone been though this and can tell me what to expect?
I do plan to file for bankruptcy once I can get a job and afford to file. This judgment is for under $3,000 and I estimate my total debt to be around 15k including $3,500 in student loans that I can't include.
