NorthStar is one of those bizzare "accounts receivable" companies, I believe. They are still a third party debt collector. If you want to start making these calls go away, then you need to answer the phone, don't discuss any financial info over the phone, verify who you are and your address, and request that they send you written information within 5 days as mandated by the FDCPA. They should comply.
I began to stop paying on unsecured debt over 2 years ago after I could not get everyone to agree to reasonable terms. I seldom get calls any longer. I have been sued and local lending companies had my wages garnished. In terms of national credit card players only one has bothered to sue. I have no assets, and I think they finally figured out that they will need to get in line for any wage garnishment.
Paying off my debt slowly based on suits and wage garnishments. The newest player (who finally gets it) is my student loan guarantor. After 300+ days of non-payment, they are finally moving forward on a permanent 15% wage garnishment. This will now leave only 10% of garnishment for others. And, I live in a state where a bank garnishment is only good for ONE day, and wage garnishment writs are good for 90 days which means the garnishor has to return to the back of the line after 90 days. At 10%, this could take years. Or, perhaps someday I'll finally tire of it all, retire, and file BK.
How did I get out so far in terms of last payments? I just kept communicating with everyone, and I kept exercising my rights as a debtor under state and federal laws.
