Anyone know of these guys? Got a call on a debt that was sold to them, that I have disputed all the way along. I have not for a long time dealt with anyone as stupid as this guy. He was being coached in the background and the person coaching him was just as stupid.
I don't generally call people stupid and morons, but oh my gosh this was just amazing.
Part of the conversation; me "I know what my rights are under the law, the FDCPA."
Collector: "I am not a cop, I don't need to read you your rights."
He tells me they sent out the dunning letter two days ago, then tell me to go ask my neighbors if they took my mail since I claim I never got the letter, then he asks me "how much time do you need to respond to our letter, a day or two is more then enough isn't it? LMAO!! I said: "The law allows me 30 days from when I receive your letter, I am sure you can wait that long." He says; "If you can't answer sooner than that then we will have to talk to our attorney, is that what you want."
I was trying sooooo hard to keep from laughing....
Then he brought up the my HELOC had more than enough to pay this off (oops house was foreclosed on four months ago) and the final part was he said that since I didn't seem to know anything about this debt that maybe my wife (I have been divorced 5 years now) bought it as a gift for me. I then told him she was my ex and then he said well maybe she bought it for her boy friend... I said well then why are you calling me if you don't know who bought this item. He says it was on your account. I said well clearly you don't even know who purchased this and if you don't know who bought it how can I, this is why I would like to see your proof I owe this.
It just went on like this for 30 minutes...wow...
