writing dv letters

I am writing a couple dv letters today. While writing them i notice a letter from a ca that i had not seen. It was dated Oct. 16th. Is it to late to dv them seeing as it is 2 days past the 30?

Send it anyway and backdate it.

Here is my sample letter:

my name and address
date

dear evil collection agency,

this is in response to your letter dated xx/xx/xx.

your claim is disputed and validation is requested.

it is inconvenient for me to receive telephone calls at any time.
please cease and desist from telephonic communication.
all further contact should be in writing to the above address.

Note that if collector is a law firm located in your state, this may provoke a lawsuit, but it was probably coming anyway.
