Who know how this stuff works. Maybe Hilco is a 4th party collector. LOL
    Hey Tree,

I pulled a CR today, and indeed the balances show "0" with the note "Account transferred to another office. Transferred to another lender or claim purchased"
I assume that to mean the account has been moved to a JDB. Funny thing is my Credit Score rose 20 points haha.

And the more the debt moves around, the less documentation follows it. Heck, I figure by the time it has been through two or three JBDs, they are pretty much running short of actual good validation.

Albacore, LOL! I know the feeling. After several of my accounts were sold to JDB's and reported a balance of $0 on original lines of credits of $5K+, my Cr scores increased. I find it all entertaining. I would think that if the OC is now reporting a $0 balance, the account has been marked paid. The next question becomes, "Who owns the account and are they in a position to report to a CRA?"

Yes, I suspect Cap 1 is in dire waters, financially.

They are among my top picks for failure in the next year or so. The others are Advanta, BoA (unless another huge infusion of tax money arrives), and a significant number of other large mortgage lenders. We haven't even hit the biggest wave of ARM resets, which will occur during the 1st and 2nd quarter of 2010. The number of resetting loans in that period will be much larger than the wave that brought the nation into the mess to begin with.

I predicted CIT's downfall a year and a half ago, and they just fell. Trying to stay in business (at taxpayer expense, of course), but may yet fail completely.

None of these are a surprise to any of us of course, and I am not touting any prediction skills. Just noting that the first dominoes are falling and many more can be expected.

I pray that at least one major pizza delivery chain survives, though. What would game-day be without pizza delivery?
