    Finally got my letter-interesting

    Mann Bracken LLP
    Rockville MD. 28050

    Creditor : GE moneybank Retailer : Chevron/Texaco balance $2,531

Please be advided our law firm represents the creditor above. Our client alleges you owethe above referenced balance. If you dispute this debt or any portion, you are urged to dispute as discribed on the reverse side of this letter.
At this time no attorney has personally reviewed the circumstances of your account.

Hmmm.....how nice of them, inviting me to send them a DV.

The thing I dont understand about this DV business, is every letter i have got from a collector already lists the creditor and the amount alleged owed. So you send them a DV and their only required to send you the information they sent on their first contact letter, and no more.

For anyone with GE money debt, be advised they seem to be faster than the other banks in sending your account to a law firm. this is the second account they have sent, and none of my others have done so yet. No problem, by the time they respond to my DV, i will have hired my attorney for my January filing.
    Stopped Paying CC's 2/2009. Retained Attorney 1/10/2010 Filed 1/23/2010. Discharged 5/19/10 $187K CC, $240K 2nd,$417K 1st, No asset Ch-7

I thought they seemed really fast. I received a certified letter after only being about 70 days late. How many months past due are you? I am wondering if I should try to stall them -if it's possible. Can't file until April.

about 6. it just charged off. GE has been by far the quickest. all the others are offering settlements, they just go right to collections at about 60 days. i think they are pretty desperate, and it figures. If you watch any of the Business channels and you see them discuss GE, they always talk about GECAS which is their financial arm and all the bad debt that might pull GE down.

Speaking of Mann Bracken, I got a letter back from the infamous NAF yesterday finally saying that the claimaint (MB on behalf of Chase) had withdrawn their case. So that's done. We'll probably get sued again next (current count: 8 suits covering 10 cards).

MY GEMB account (Paypal credit card) got sent to a local (NJ) law firm who must have told them not to sue because I haven't heard a peep out of them for a while. Not sure why, it would be a lay-up to sue in special civil part, get a judgment and go for a wage garnishment. Apparently they aren't that diligent for a few grand.
filed chapter 13..confirmed...converted to chapter 7...DISCHARGED!
