Just got call from Debt Collector

I just got a call on my answering machine form a guy here what he says:

hello, this call is for Bob, my name is Max, I am a debt collector, please call me at my number in Missouri so we can discuss it.

Now when debt collectors start calling does that mean it will be followed by a law suit or judgment to go to court?

He is trying to get 'face to face' contact with you so he can get you to pay the bill.

What it generally means is he is hoping that number is valid so he can call you upteen times on the phone every day.

If you call back, you have done half of his work by validating the number.

wait for a dunning letter to show up, then promptly send them a cease and desist letter to shut them up, your phone will be quiet after that.
