    Is that a rest stop?
Well, I did. Every one of 'em. Mostly I remember the last one. The wild finish. A guy standing on a station platform in the rain with a comical look in his face because his insides have been kicked out. -Rick

Uh, oh. I looked back in my records and in 2000, I did receive paperwork related to a physical address. I submitted my address at that time. That was many rentals ago. But, I don't think I've ever been requested to update anything since then. In my current living situation, I'm not sure what I'd even give as an address.

The point is that in terms of service, all they need to do is come to my office and leave it with the person in charge of our office area. As mentioned, this happens many times to many people during the year for many different reasons. It's no big deal.

Yes. To rent an official USPS box, you must provide positive id and a physical address. You can rent a private mailbox without providing all of your confidential information.

Reststop - good one! How about trailhead ##? Or, ###VacantLot "street" in unfinished sub-division. I'm not encouraging breaking the law. Just having a bit of fun. I think technically you are required to list your place of residence. What if you don't have one? If one goes across country to help out an ailing family member for several months, does that become your place of residence? What if you are homless? (Corner of Third and Oak?) I'm just postulating.

As I drive across the Oregon Outback, I still see rural route boxes. They are often times along some county road in little rows with dirt roads going everywhere. Not a ranchhouse in site. I thought these were supposed to be gone also.

Years ago before they required people to have a "physical address" for driver's licenses, etc, I worked in Washington. For 9 months out of the year I'd live near a job (logging) site. I had tents, trailers, etc. I had an address once that said "suchandsuch national forest." That is what was printed on my driver's license plus a PO Box. I got pulled over for speeding, and the state trooper thought my address was a bit "unique." I explained to him that I lived on many different logging roads for a variety of jobs. He said he totally understood. I can't imagine that being allowed any longer.
