    Citi calls.....

I for 15 seconds felt bad after getting off a call from Citi yesterday. Conversation went somethinglike this:
Citi: Hi Mr XXXX, I'm calling on your outstanding delinquent account
Me: (I'm thinking to myself WHICH ONE? LOL) Yes..
Citi: Well I know you've spoke with us before, so I wont keep you long, has there been any changes to your situation?
Me: (I havent said anything about my 'situation' to them ever) No
Citi: Ok, well, would you call us if anything does change?
    Me: Sure, thats cool.
Citi: Well Mr XXXX, have a great 4th of weekend, and you take care!
    Me: Thanks

    Call ended.

I was like, wow- are they trying to kill me with kindness, or did this girl just have a great day cuz she might have a 3 day weekend starting in a few hours?

So I sat there for 15 seconds, and was like, wow, I wish the other calls went that way. Anyone else run into the same scenario?

Unless this is not your real name, please protect your anonymity. Thank you.

They are trying to kill you with kindness, its a desperate attempt and new tactic that they use to get you to pay, rather than threaten you and make you file bankruptcy because you feel like you are backed into a corner.

Citi, and others even have commercials now about how much they can help consumers that are behind on their credit card payments.

w0ot! 1000 posts, sheesh, I need to get a life.

I guess Citi has changed. It was Citi that called the police and asked them to check on me. Too bad the police overreacted by sending 3 police cars! They also notified the police I was delinquent on my mortgage payment (they forgot to tell the police that it was the 2nd mortgage and that our BK13 plan calls for that mortgage to be lien stripped).

I wished I owned a pig. If I did, it would be interesting to watch the pig just change just like Citi has been changing. You got to admit, watching a pig pen morph into a small palace would be a sight we would find almost impossible to believe.

Maybe I am just cynical, but I believe they are being "nice" now so that they can get you to supply all of your financials, just like they do in the 'hardship' programs or when you apply for a short sale.

This way they do not have to look very hard for your assets because you have given them all of your recent asset information under the guise of 'helping you in your situation'. Naturally you are not going to do that on the first nice phone call - lol I hope I'm wrong.

I think they have changed there strategy. I would bet they are training these people in the you will get more with honey than a stick approach. I just deleted a call from yesterday from citi and the gal sounded as sweet as pie , please call so i can go over several programs we offer that can help you. well unless they have complete forgivness of debt on their list of programs, which they dont, there is no help for me.

I forgot to mention that citi recently wrote my mother a detailed letter about my debt and bankruptcy. My mother is not involved in any way with any of my debts. I live in Arizona, my mother lives on the east coast. Nice people. Glad I had told my mother we filed bankruptcy.

WTF ??? isn't that illegal ?? i would think that voilates the invasion of privacy laws or something along that line.

Of course creditors do things that are gray and or down right wrong but there job is to get money and if they can shame you into giving them money, they will. The ghosts of creditors will haunt us I feel, even after our bankruptcies have been discharged.

I wonder what there next clever angle 'of attack' will be?

I guess what i mean is they sent her your default information...........in Writing....not a phone call, something more difficult to prove. that is a bold move and I would think you could take their letter to an Att, and sue for invasion of privacy
