    Phillips & Cohen

Got my first call from these guys today on behalf of Advanta. Does that mean Advanta has finally sold off my account, or is Phillips and Cohen an internal collections thing? I was getting calls from another agency on behalf of Advanta, but I'm pretty sure they were an internal/outsourced agency.

So I hear P & C are pretty nasty to deal with?

We are just starting to set up some interviews with attorneys, so it will probably be another month before we can file Ch 7. Should I tell them we're in the process? Also, I don't have a recorder with me today. Should I wait until I have one in hand before I talk to them? I'd hate to miss the chance to record something juicy!

Phillips & Cohen using high pressure and fake names and voices to trick consumers into sending moneys they may not owe.
filed chapter 13..confirmed...converted to chapter 7...DISCHARGED!

I doubt they are nastier than anyone else, unless you don;t understand your rights. Did you get e latter from them? If so, send a DV and C&D request. In my opinion, collectors get "nasty" when they think you have no clue of your rights under federal and state laws. Hopefully, during the call you asked for writtent information and mentioned you expect them to send something out in the next 5 days as required by the FDCPA.

Actually they just left a voice mail, so I haven't spoken with them directly. I tried to call back, and the girl who left me the voicemail was "out". The guy who answered said he would get her supervisor on the line to talk to me, and I was on hold for 5 minutes so I hung up.
