Another account moved to a collection agency.

They just received one of my other chase accounts, which I am glad they have it compared to Mann and Bracken. The CA is called Financial Asset Management Systems, and they are collecting a bill for a little over $2500, which is above the small claims court cap in my state.

Anyone have any dealings with them?

I told them that "I am filing a Chapter 13", and gave them my attorney's name and phone number.

They asked "when are you going to file your bk?"

I responded "i'm sorry, but the only information that I can divulge is my attorney's name and phone number."

To which they became frustrated and responded "we will go through your attorney"

After which, I asked for the reference number for the account, and their correspondence address so that I can DV and CD them promptly.

I like the FDCPA, stops them cold, unless they sue of course, upon which I will press the big red button, and yet again stop them cold, I have rights too you leaches.

I've never heard of them, but check out the post I just started. There are so many "financial management" companies out there, it is impossible to keep up with all of them. I wonder if they will actually call your attorney. My guess is that they will not. They are all fishing! The DV IS a great tool, however, many of the new CA players on the block have yet to be educated.

Next month, I am going to pay a retainer to a local attorney to deal with my CA's. She is a local BK attorney, but she fianally "gets" the idea that I am not going to file BK in the next year or two. I'm only willing to pay her for the time she has to deal with phone calls directed to her from CA's. She doesn't think there will be that many, if any at all. She is very bright, but I don't think she has any experience dealing with clients who say, "I might file for BK, but in the meantime I just need an attorney to offer up to some of these CA's." I think she is going to agree. What the heck, I think attorneys are hungry for business, just as any other small business is these days.

They call my home at least twice a day on 2 Chase accounts we have. Our Attorney has told us not to answer the phone if we do not know the phone number.

Every phone call I get, I google it and find out who it is. I've got 2 messages on my voicemail with my local telephone call & one is from them. I've read where they can somehow know if you retrieve your voicemail, so I'm not listening to them.

I'm disabled and home most of the days & nights. So, so many phone calls from Collectors and JDBs. Only 5 letters received asking for information. Yesterday, the mail lady drove up in our driveway & honked. I just knew it was going to be a Certified Letter from a Collection Agency. It wasn't. I had ordered some prescription medicine off the internet for our furkid, a Shih Tzu. Man, I wish someone had been here to see the big ole smile on my face when she told me it what I needed to sign.

Just praying Attorney can handle any summons, judgements & lawsuits until we can file on 9/30/09. It will be exactly one year on all our CCs except for one which I paid thru Dec. 08 due to a balance transfer in 8/08.

Im surprised your attorney doesnt do what many have, tell their clients to have the collection agencies call them, (like they even do), rather than let them keep calling you over and over.

Honestly, your right, I dont have to speak to them, do I want my phone ringing all the time with 888 and 800 numbers everyday, absolutely not.

So, I am paying an attorney $3500 to represent me, why not answer the phone instead of sitting there screening it all the time. They usually call once, and after I give them the information, they never call again. He needs to work for that money I gave him, not just fill out the bankruptcy petition.

All of our Credit Card Companies have been notified twice we are filing Bankruptcy & have our Attorney's name, address (some would take it, some wouldn't & phone #). He stated no reason to speak with anyone else. Don't know if he is right or wrong; however, he is a Bankruptcy Attorney in business for 20 years.

We will be filing Chapter 7 on 9/30/09 as we had to let some Income received in Feb. drop off.

smart of you to take advantage of the new "laws" put in place, if your educated on the topic, thats exactly what you do, let it drop off, and poof! You now qualify.

Why not turn off the ringer and have all calls go to voice mail.. Has worked for me..

Very peacefull. I got rid of the cell.

Will be at least another year until I file BK7. Life is to short to engage the CA's daily when you have at your disposal, the nukes to keep them in check.
