I received a call from NCO related to one final account with a national credit card company. I returned the call today and told them I would be recording the call. I requested information in writing and wished to verify my address. Of course, as always, my expereince with NCO is that they had "sent out a letter" several weeks ago. They always claim this! I asked the party to verify my address, and she read back the correct "street" but wrong street number. I corrected her. This took about 10 minutes and she could barely speak English. I waited 10 minutes and called NCO back, concerned that they had screwed up my address. The first caller still had the address incorrect. This second party also could barely speak English. Supposedly he corrected the address. Since I clearly want NCO to have my correct address, I will call them back one more time and ask to speak to a supervisor.
These folks are clearly scratching the bottom of the barrel, and I would guess they have sub-contracted out calls to 800 and 877 numbers that bounce to India.
I am still wondering about the transfer of American ID's to out-of-country companies...
I just wrote letters to all of my congressional reps and Senators inquiring as to the legality and potential laws related to the transfer of American ID's overseas. I'll report back should I get a reply.
Perhaps a few others on this board could also send out a few letters (most congressmen/women and senators have websiates where they can be reached.
