LOL Umm I was caught off guard and so embarassed b/c other employees heard but she ended up losing her job over disclosing my personal info in front of many peers and I still have a job so I guess in the end it worked out. Good for you though for sharing that, I'm sure most ppl here hate collectors but some of us are nice b/c we can really relate.
HEY! I knew i couldn't be the only collector on this board . we are people too, we are not all the devil and some of us are going through the same thing as the people we are calling.

      Great post!

I knew that the collectors I dealt with were just doing their job, but one was an absolute witch! She started asking me how was I paying my mortgage and a few other bills, so I turned it around on her and asked her how she was paying hers. Anyways, that call ended with me putting her in her place. But the other calls werent that bad......its just that they kept calling and calling.

But I never took it personal until they got personal.....and changing my phone number fixed everything

        Very Good Post - Thanks.

I have to admit all of the collectors I've spoken with have been nice except for a call from Asset Recovery last week. It showed up on caller ID as a cell phone with an area code as my Dh's uncles home. She was very rude and threatened to do an Asset Search (card in my name only). I told her I was on disability, rattled off my Attorney's name and phone number & then hung up on her. I was shaking when i got off the phone.

We thought we would be filing in 12/08, but realized some monies(which fell off in Feb. 09) I was receiving would be considered income & put us in a Chapter 13. So phone calls started again in Feb. & I was diagnosed with Skin Cancer. I answered the phone a few times & told them we wouldn't be filing until I got the 'all clear' on my cancer & that I was having surgery late March. I even had two collectors wish me Good Luck with my surgery.

It's got to be a tough job especially since the economy has 'tanked'. So, Yes! (I can take the Flaming!!) I have Empathy for most Collectors. It's a job and somebody has to do it. It kinna reminds me of TeleMarketers as I'm sure both fields can/may turn 'ugly' at times.

        Thanks for the post.

When a collector calls me, I want that collector to be informed, know the laws, talk about the matter they called about and if I say we are not going to talk about something then the call is over. I don't want some collector on the other end of the phone pretending they can 'relate' to what I am going through. I don't care if you think you can or not, because I know that it doesn't change a damn thing. I don't want you to try to 'council' me on anything, I don't want to hear how your having or had a similar problem. I do not care about you and I know you don't care about me. See I know enough to know that no matter what I have to say or do it all comes down to one thing, you want me to pay you money. I also know that you can't make this go away and you won't be the one who decides to sue me or not. I know you are only the powerless middleman. So while it may make you feel like your having a bonding experience with the people you call to collect from, its not for my benefit, its only for yours.
im not going to waste much more time on you except by saying- YOUR PATHETIC! your going to go after a collector for doing their job when your the one who went delinquent on your bills?? is every company supposed to have a pity party for every person who wont pay and so oh screw it! they decided not to pay us so lets just forget everything! its a JOB. and there's nothing wrong with it. its pretty sad that not only are you stereo typing every single collector but your also attacking someone on a public message board. im sorry your so angry that you feel the need to do that, but thats YOUR problem, not mine!

have a nice life...and lighten up!

p.s. and from your original post, your right about one thing, i claim to be a "collector" cause i am a collector, ive never worked in "repossessions".

collections and repossessions are 2 different things so go get out a dictionary before EVEN comparing me to someone like YOURSELF!
