    United Recovery settlement question?

My Amex is with United now. I have access to a little bit of money and called them to settle. They claimed that AMEX will not allow them to settle and that it is 100% or nothing.

I settled another Amex card with NCO this week so I think this is BS.

Anyone get legitimate offers from United for an Amex card?

My debt is close to 180 days old. G Services had it until last month when United took over.

They are just lying to you. It's an investment for them and since they purchased the debt, they are flat out lying. GCServices, however, generally can't negotiate as they are just an agent for AMEX. When it goes back to AMEX (after GC is done attempting to collect it) it is sold to a JDB.

actually United is an agent too. I have my recent credit report and Amex has not sold me off.

I am close to 6 months and do not want to get served. I am trying to come up with the money to settle with them since the money I had was used to setle with another card that was not playing games.

Some of them are tough. Even American Express would settle. Have you tried contacting American Express directly? They will let you know whether United is the only recourse or not and if they had indeed "sold" it.

When I called AMEX and enter my account number it gives the United number.

My other Amex account had the NCO number. Since NCO settled I will use it as ammunition when I get some more money to settle United.

I just want to see what kinds of deals they offer so I can go in with proper knowledge.

I settled for 15 cents on the dollar with another card. Amex probably will not do that since they are known to be tough and willing to try serving yuo with wage garnishment.

If people settle for 30 cents or 40 cents with United, I want to know.
