Letter from GHS Solutions - "NDI Program"

Got a letter in the mail today with the heading NDI Program Notice. The letter states that we "may qualify" to settle our debts for less than we owe, blah blah blah. Most of these I throw out without a second thought, but they put in the letter that they've checked the "[my] County" records to determine if we qualify. According to their letter my "estimated balance" is $79,000. That's way off.

My initial thought was that they're watching court records and someone has filed suit against me...and somehow this letter got to me before I was served the official paperwork. Conveniently the county website is down for maintenance and not expected back up again for 3 days. I don't have the time to go down there and check records and I'm not even sure of which building to go to.

I'm about 95% sure that this is just some nonsense. It's not hard to figure out what county I live in if you have my address - especially since I live in the county seat which has the same name as the county. Probably they just throw that in there to scare me (it worked!).

I googled some phrases from the letter and got nothing useful. The fine print at the bottom identifies the sender as "GHS Solutions." Google shows them to be a debt settlement firm out of Florida with the typical rip-off-report.com and similar listings. I'm definitely not going to call them to ask.

Has anyone heard of this company? Should I go with my gut and trash the letter? Do I need to be worried about a summons coming soon?

Toss it. It's one of those pitch letters disguised to look really official. I got one too. A real summons would come from the sheriff's office anyway.
