I got a settlement offer from them after I missed one payment. I wish I had the money to settle all of my debt. Here is their offer.
"Respond by 04/21/09 and you can completely settle your debt with Citi for just $7791.12. That's $5194.08 LESS than you owe!"

Yeah but also if you did settle you would get a 1099 on that $5194 that they would be writing off.

        Good stuff. Click.
My bk clients tell me stories like that all the time, but we can never catch them making the jail threat. I have sent recording equipment home with them so we can try to get it on tape, but it never seems to happen again.

That's what I want for Christmas: A dozen or so clients being told by a debt collector that they are going to jail if they don't pay the debt and getting it caught on tape. Santa? Can you see this? I've been really good! Just ask me!

No kidding, I have wet dreams about what I am going to do to any debt collector that I can catch on tape telling my client that they are going to put them in jail for a debt. Especially if the client has already filed for bk. We'll ALL go to Disney World!

Pay no attention to anything I post. I graduated last in my class from a fly-by-night law school that no longer exists; I never studied or went to class; and I only post on internet forums when I'm too drunk to crawl away from the computer.

Too bad you were not my lawyer when Citi called the cops on me and three police cars showed up to check on me. I guess Citi was concerned about my welfare but when I recently contacted Citi, they claim they have no record of doing so..... but the police report says they did!

Jesus. What were the cops told they were showing up for? Did you have an attorney? What does the police report say?

Welcome to RadioShack's official website. Search and shop for electronics, gaming devices, powerbanks, audio products and business traveling gear.

Get one of these things and put on your phone to record conversations. Check your state law. Some states require that all parties consent before a phone conversation can be recorded. Others, like Mississippi only require that one party consent.

Your attorney could get a lot of mileage out of that.

Cops said Citi thought they should check upon me, they hadn't heard from me in a while. The polce report claims this was over a mortgage in default (2nd mortgage being lien stripped).

Passed the info on to my lawyer.

I guess City is not happy being they might not get paid.

The police report was short and to the point. Case close as far as they are concerned.
