    citibank calling

something really strange started happening today. phone started ringing every 15 minutes. checked the caller ID it listed an 11 digit Ph #. phone #'s are 10 didgits including the are code. now i know it's Citibank as the # is 1 digit extra to a # citi has been calling from.

now the problem is, i am unable to program this into my blacklist on my OOMA VOP phone system to direct all calls from that # to my voicemail. not sure if these people have figured a way to hack around the VOP systems. I answereed one of the calls and got dead air. WTF ??

Maybe for some people it is hard to do, but when I had this problem 3.5 years ago, I changed my phone number, was careful who I gave it to, and have still yet to hear from a collector

Yep, did that purposly. bought a VOP system which is phone over DSL internet connection. no phone bills. Have 2 lines. I changed all the profiles on my CC websites to one of the lines. I programmed the voicemail to announce mine and my wifes first and last names, so they know they got the right place. it also comes with a programmable blacklist, which allows you to program certain unwanted phone #'s to go direct to voicemail, and not ring the house phone.

what they have somehow figured out to do is add an additional digit (11th) to their caller ID that allows them to bypass the blacklist and not get directed to voicemail. tricky.........I contacted the VOP service and they said they are doing a software upgrade, that will allow more than 10 digits.
