Sound Advice did not waste any time!!

Well, I am officially 60 days late as of the 17th on our account and they have already turned the account over to Allied Interstate collections.

We retained our lawyer first week of Feb but just started yesterday giving the lawyers name and number to the callers.

I gave Sound Advice ( GE Money Bank ) the info last night when they called but today we got a letter from collection agency called Allied Interstate in regards to the account, and for some reason they called my cell phone number today and not the house phone when asking for him and when I tried to give the women the house phone number so that they could reach him she said thank you for your time and hung up on me!!!

She would not discuss the matter with me but also would not take the home phone number in order to reach my spouse. I did not tell her we are filing and gave the info to someone last night because she did not give me a chance to do so.

    Any advice??

I have a feeling they are going to be a problem now.

Allied Interstate can be a pain in the ass. They called me everyday up until my filing date. The only # they had to contact me with was my home #, so it just got to the point where I quit answering the phone. They did not file a claim to be paid in my Ch 13 plan, but instead, passed the debt on to another CA, which starting harassing me, so my attorney had to contact them letting them know that I'm under BK protection, and they would not be paid because it was past the "bar date."

I take your post as not a question, but yes they cannot talk to the wrong person about personal things, so not knowing you, the CA did the right thing. Appearantly you are too so keep us informed. 'Hub

Love Cat's letter. I sent them to all the CA's on our back. We had Allied Interstate. What a great group. HaHa. It sounds like they are going to try every number they can find for your hub.

You are doing the right thing. Give the lawyer's number and hang up.

            Good luck.

Thank you, my actual letter makes a few more points but I try to keep it simple and direct. Many of the sample letters you see on the web are too Perry Mason-esque. I honestly don't see much value to the DV but I'm already paying $5.32 so I might as well get as much payload in there as possible.

One of the lessons I've learned in corporate life is that long drawn out emails simply don't get read or comprehended. Communication works best when you assume your reader is really dumb or has a short attention span i.e. typical management :-)

Anytime you can subtract out words without losing the meaning is usually a good idea, unless you're writing a novel.
