Way back in 2001 I was given an Aria card issued by Providian. Then, it was sold off to some no-name company and the following became the new OC:
Card Service Center
P.O. Box 9201
Old Bethpage, NY 11804-9001
(www.mycardaccount.com)
They purchased all the high risk debt from Providian in 2002 I think. They have not charged off my account and keep calling. In 2002 a new mastercard was issued without any logo, name, just a plain credit card with the mastercard symbol, almost looked fake and my statements were on mycardaccount.com. All other creditors have charged me off except this one and it has been over 6 months.
How do I handle them?(877) 487-5583 is the # they call from and shows up as Merick bank in a google search??? Weird. When they purchased all the high risk debt from providian back in 2002, I was never asked to sign a new agreement, although I reactivated the new card. I also got hit with a 29.99% APR. I begged them in 2004 to lower it, they refused.
My concern is that since this company bought all the debt, are they both the original creditor and collection agency, which means that a cease and desist will not work? Anyone have this same situation and know what the real scoop is on this company? Thanks!
