    Sheriff at the door...

I live in GA and from the looks of the yellow piece of paper I just got, I'm being sued by an unsecured creditor. My heart is pounding. I don't like to see police in my driveway

I am just about to file Chapter 7, bought software, and I'm in the middle of filling everything out.

It says I have 30 days to answer in writing or person.

Will filing my Chapter 7 help me here?

Yes, if you file chapter 7 before your appearance date, the lawsuit will be stopped. You just need to make sure you notify the court where this lawsuit is pending when you file Bankruptcy. Generally you file what is called a "Notice of Bankruptcy"

You should be fine! Just be somewhat expedient about things!

      Good Luck!

Mike, please do NOT pull old threads up and make new posts to them - it's against our forum rules. This particular thread is more than two years old, and WhatToDo has not posted here for a very long time. He/she will never see your request.

Instead it's far better to start a new thread asking our current members if they have used software to help them fill out their bk forms and if they have, which software they used. Thanks!
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.
