Yep, I have found tons of mail in my box and it looks real! I feel for the young or uneducated, they lure you in and scare you too! so they hope....

As far as credit reporting, the landlord example was perfect, though I know you don't want to hear this, many companies, one I consult for, digs this stuff up for a fee.

The world truly revolves around money, it was hard to confront this truism.

I love technology also, you can look up a number while they are calling you! I also get these numbers calling me sometimes and I call right back and it says its not in service at this time?? So I looked into this; I found out how this is done. I went to website that does this and you can try it for free, you put your number in and the number you want to call ( I used my Wife's) then you type in the number as you want it to appear on their phone. So I put in something like 444-444-4444 and it called and when my Wife saw the number come across her phone it was that number! when she picked up I was on the other end. You can basically disguise your phone # now, whats next??

I *love* YouMail, and for more reasons that messing with the creditor calls

You can also record your own greetings, and specify which caller hears which greeting. I though of making a special one, just for Capital One! lol

It is amazing as well, how many creditors want to offer you 50-60% settlement deals between the time that you tell them that you are filing, and when you file.

Yeah, it's amazing how much better those deals get the closer it gets to too little too late.

I would say they need to work on their timing, but the odds must be in their favor because they keep on with this practice. Either it's profitable or they are just stupid finaceers, of which we have no shortage.

                You said it!

I told one lady who called from First Equity (they were horrible to deal with from the first day I got the card) that the offer she was making me was excellent...and it *would* have helped....6 months ago when I first starting having trouble.

She offered me 10% interest, instead of the 36% they're charging me now....

A couple of other companies have done that, too....and it's too little too late. Does make me wonder though, why they had to be so greedy in the first place. (I know, I'm dreaming).
