what is the difference between a 'local' creditor and a national one?

    Hello all,

We have several store credit cards and I honestly don't know if they are considered to be local or not.

    Macys?
    Target Visa?
    Dicks Sporting Goods (GE Money)
    Morris Furniture (GE Money)
    Best Buy

And.... an overdraft protection account with Key Bank.

Which of these is considered to be local? It seems like they move more quickly than other creditors. We still need to wait several months (ideally 8 to 10 months) before filing. At the moment we are 30 days past due.

Thanks so much for your insights.

Local creditors tend to be places like PayDay loan places (even though many of them are now national chains or underwritten by major banks), or purely locak banks or credit unions.

      Thank you, HHM.

Um... can I just confirm then that none the aforementioned are 'local' creditors?

      Thanks so much.

I don't know about Morris Furniture, but the others would be national creditors.

HHM, I learned, from listening in at my 341 Meeting, that "local" creditors, are the ones that show up at your 341!!!
