My bf used his credit to get me a used car. Since I will be driving it, I am going to put the insurance under my name. Is this ok to do since the car is under his name?

Most insurance companies will require the policy to be under the registered owners name, and you would be an additional driver insured under it.
It might be more beneficial to add the vehicle to his policy, naming you as the additional insured. Plus, there are discounts for multi vehicle to be had....

I got insurance today added on under my name. They didn't ask to verify who the car was registered under & I didn't tell them.
I got in an accident before with my bf's car & they ended up dropping him from that company plus it was alot of hassles. Not only would he probably like it that I have my own insurance but I've always just wanted it under my name. That's why I'm hoping it doesn't matter who owns the car, just who pays the insurance.

krispy12,
you will be able to get insurance on any car under your name whether you own it or not, but the lien holder will require that the person they have given a loan to be listed on the policy. therefore, you will have to add your bf. however, you can wing this until they contact you for proof (some lenders dont even follow up), but eventually, you probably will have to add him.
