    Repo Looking For Our Car

I was told to turn in my car last Friday but haven't done it yet. The bank hasn't called me either.

I want to know what happens if I'm driving around with this car? Will the bank of reported it stolen? I don't want to drive around a stolen car but also I need to use this car as long as I can till I find another used car.

Basically I would not leave any valuables in the car.

The repo man most likely will come to your address late at night/early morning. However they can also come to your work and get it.

They are not going to follow you every where you go but as the pp said, they can come to you work to get it. My girlfriend had her car repo at her mom's house who was one of her references.

As to krspy12's question: Will the bank reported the car as stolen - NO

As stated, get all your valuables out of that vehicle now cause they can come at any time, any time of day and get that vehicle. Any address they have for you they will watch for that vehicle and the surruounding streets, etc. You know you are in the radar. Start making plans for other transportation now because you yourself know the car is going to go and it could go soon.

I would not park in the obvious places and when you go to get the car, watch to see who is watching.
They tried repossessing our car. I guess you have to try thinking like they do in order to stay ahead of them. It may seem like they have stopped trying, don't get fooled.

What is the longest time someone has gone driving a car that's supposed to be repossesed?

My car is in the garage all the time & I don't work right now. What happens if I do happen to see a tow guy around? Are they going to follow me? Can they legally grab the keys from my hand if I'm in a shopping center?

There is no set time, and no, they cannot assualt you (i.e. grab the keys from you while you are shopping), but they could easily grab the car from the parking lot.

Here's my worry. If I open my garage & the repo guy is there. What can they do? Are they going to follow me somewhere to take my car? Or will they try asking for the car back & if I just leave, they are going to go away?

krispy12, if you still want to play the game, I would go to the dollar store and buy some really cheap No Trespassing signs and put them around your property.

As BigBoy2U said, they will follow you. I once had a security clearance where the government wasted their time following me. What I would do is drive slow, about 10 -15 miles under the speed limit. The car or cars following me could be easily identified after about 10 minutes. Once they knew my 'route', they would use multiple cars, having cars posted along the route. So in that case, change your 'route'. Change the place were you shop for groceries, etc. It might be interesting to see how long you can hold them off.

Can they follow you and grab your car if you go across state lines, in the other state, or do they have to grab in the state where you reside/car is registered in?

Interesting question, I am sure BigBoy will know, but my guess is they can't, but not because of your state of residence or where the car is registered; the repo guy/company would probably need to be licensed or otherwise registered in that state to repo cars. Now, if you are in a border town like Texarkana or something, you can probably bet that any repo agency will be able to get cars in both states.

I know in my State they have to be liscensed in my State to do Repos. The repo company that tried repossessing our car has four letters on their trucks and answer the phone by the four letters. It turns out they are abbreviations. On their website they claim the four letters is their registered trademark. A check with the State shows it not as a registered trademark. Their business is incorporated but it took me a long time to find their real name. So in this case, the repo men are registered with the State but their trucks seem to indicate they are not liscensed.

Actually, Krispy, why not give it up voluntary? You are stressing and it will come to pass anyway. What you are not paying, purchase a junker you could discard if it fails. Of course keep anything you have insured. Just my opinion. 'Hub

Security clearance? Gov't ppl following you? Sounds intense....I'd like to know what that was about lol.

I live on a main street where there are lots of cars parked outside & cars driving by. What would those no trespassing signs do anyway? I doubt it'd deter a repo guy from getting the car?

I'm thinking about voluntarily turning it in but I need my car until the used car I'm getting is ready for pickup & all the paperwork is done.

Thanks for all the information about repos, there's so much to learn.
