I'm so worried about them calling me at work....

I read that there is a letter that I should send them to ask them not to call at work?

I don't have a land line anymore so they don't have that number to use. I don't think that many have my cell number.

I really don't want anyone at work finding out.

I meet with a couple lawyers next week. I'm just hoping I can file soon!

I was scared of that too. Terrified. They never called at my work though, and I had a land line that I had disconnected. For awhile, I got no calls (obviously!) but then they somehow found out my cellphone number and they all started calling that, day and night. But it was much better then having them call my work. Good luck!

I know one card already has my work number...they have called once in the past when I was a couple of weeks late already.

I was faced with the same type thing. I stopped paying cc's in late 07 and the calls trickled in at first, then they called 6-7 times a day. When I got a new land line, Discover was the first to track me down within a day of getting the new number. A few creditors also had my cell number, but I avoided talking to them by buying a cheap number blocking program and their calls didn't get through.

They did call me at work and for the most part I avoided talking to them by letting most of my calls go directly to voice mail. I have my own office so it isn't a big deal to unplug my phone for a while and let voicemail pick up.

I have heard from some folks here that say it is best to give them a "good" number (like home or cell) so they can reach you to avoid getting calls at work because if the Original Creditor (not a collection agency) is calling you, that letter asking them not to call you at work might work, but then again it might not especially if they can't reach you any other way.

If they should call you at work and you are within hearing of other folks at your job, simply tell them that you cannot accept personal, non-business related calls at work, provide them with your cell number if you want, and ask them to contact you later on that number or you will call them back. If they continue to try to talk to you, just hang up.
