I noticed that some of you, in a waiting period for BK as I am, mention
the use of a new checking account.
I closed both my accounts last year and have been using money orders only for monthly expenses.
So far, on 7 cc accounts, only Chase went for the judgment. Seeing no need to go to court, they acquired the judgment about 6 months ago. I am judgment proof.
Last week I got a letter from Chase stating that they put a garnishment against one of my old checking accounts. Hello! it has been closed for 6 months.
Can they be this dumb to spend the money on securing a garnishment on a closed account?
Also, wanted to add that most of my cc accounts were all almost 25 years old and I had stellar credit for all those years.
Not one of the original creditors were nasty to me as I speak to them all the time.
BOA must have sold my account because last week I kept getting calls from some company and they were really nasty. One guy threatened to "come to my house." I promptly called them back, asked for the manager and told him that one of their collectors threatened me and was the collector thinking of doing me bodily harm when he arrived at my house?
Well, never heard from them again, lol.
Anyway, my question is, those of you with checking accounts, aren't you afraid of an account garnishment? I would love to open up a new checking account.
