Is this to quick for the calls to have stopped?

Filed on May 29th. Today is only June 2nd. Calls have gone from 90+ a day down to.... ready for this.... I have had 3 so far today!

I thought they had to be mailed something before they stopped calling? It seems very fast that they have ceased communication. Is this all done electronically and that is why its happened so fast?

This is just beautiful. The ringer is actually on and there is silence!

I actually think alot of the notices are now sent electronically in addition to the mail. I noticed when I saw copies of our paperwork at our confirmation hearing that it indicated that many were notified electronically and it was within 1-2 days after we filed. Guess that's one good thing about the electronic age!

Its definately a nice surprise. I was under the impression that it would be up to 2 weeks before they all had notice. Far cry from 2 weeks but I am NOT complaining!

I only had a few calls before I told them I had an attorney. After I told them about the attorney, there were no more calls.

Haven't received to many calls since I gave my attorneys name. We file 6/27 for Chapter 7.

Calls stopped once I gave the attorneys name and number. They don't really bother us now, we will file most likely the end of this month, C7.

Let me see if I am understanding this correctly. We have retained a lawyer (Put down $200) towards his fee/court fees. We still have several hundred dollars to go before he will acually file the case. It might be up to a month or so. In the meantime, if collectors (monsters) can we tell them we've retained a lawyer and give him his name and info? Maybe I should ask him first.

I mean, I can withstand a handful of calls each day (I will just ignore my phone) by watching caller id. But over 50 calls a day?! That will drive me nuts. If they contact me at work, I will be a wreck. I work at all call center, so I am on the phone with customers 98% of the day. People can get in touch me through me regular #, but they will get the reception desk first who will ask to be transferd to me. It's a small office and the receptionist hate to transfer personal calls continously to our phones. Plus, I really can't talk to them at work...too busy and no privacy.

You should check with your attorney's office but many will take the calls after receiving the initial retainer or downpayment..
It's not what we have in our lives, but who we have in our lives and the quality of those relationships.

We were NOT to tell our creditors about our intentions until we actually filed. I have seen many different reasons behind this but I think the #1 reason is that creditors do NOT have to stop calling until you have a BK case number. It seems to work out no matter which your attorney has you do though. I dont see any benefit or negative to telling or not telling.
If your going to be filed very soon anyways.

Just shut the ringer off on the phone for the time being.

My attorney gave me a paper on what to exactly say to the creditors if I decided to talk to them. Basically it said to tell them I've retained my attorney for my BK proceedings and you can call them at ...... if you call again I will sue you. LOL! I've decided to just ignore all the calls and voicemail. I don't want to give the creditors any time to think of anything sneaky before I file. Once I file I can't wait to tell them!!

LOL, I'd love to say that. Especially the part about "I will sue you". I am mostly concerned about them calling me at work, where I have NO privacy and a receptionist would be transferring the call to me (the receptionists are snippity and gossipy and you can be sure a red flag will be raised if people start calling contiously to speak to me. I work at a call center so I am always on the phone with inbound calls from customers. So I will have a hard time intercepting these outside calls.

When Macy's called me at work it was time to tell them to talk to my attorney. I can understand the thought of just not answering them at home, but once I got that call at work......."please talk to my attorney". I told them all the same. for the next 6 months while I was paying him the calls went down. Funny thing now that I have filed the calls actually have picked up a little.

you guys should not be doing having to deal...

too many calls man... the amount of calls you are receiving a day is ridiculously too many. I don't care how many creditors you have, if you are receiving that many calls a day it is illegal and you should sue. its totally against the FDCPA....

check out www.consumercounselgroup.com... there are some good letters there that you can use to write the creditors... like sample letters. but better than that you should contact the people on that website. I did and they sued and got me a bunch of money. Its free, they dont collect attorneys fees from you but from the collection agencys. its different from paying your bankruptcy lawyer. definitely contact them. best advice i can give. or at least check out the letters on that site and use the info. don't hide from the massive amounts of phone calls. just stop the calls.
