I owe about $6k on a credit card from my credit union. I've always heard how sleezy credit unions can be, but I found out first hand today. a man in a rundown truck showed up at my house today (with his wife) 3 about 5pm. from my driveway I'm having to explain to him that I'm filing bk and what my attys name and no. is. What is this?? Bill collectors cornering me in the driveway? I'm just glad my car with them is paid off.

Southernbelle, that's harsh. I cannot imagine having to deal with someone coming on the property. I hope you told him to leave and not ever step foot on your property again. Repo is one thing, "personal" collections is quite another. I wish you well!Nolo Press book on filing Chapter 7, there are others too. (I have no affiliation with Nolo Press; just a happy customer.) Best wishes to you!

I was too stunned to tell him off. As I was coming outside, this guy in this beat up old truck had the audacity to corner me and jump out with a HUGE clipboard in hand. I was like....can I help you and he then asked my name and then proceeded to tell me that I had a delinquent loan with the credit union and that they were planning to sue me and wanted to know what my intentions were. (I'm sure he's getting a percentage of any amount collected).
The amount of paper he had on the clipboard was overwhelming and only the top two sheets looked like mine. I hope he's not driving around town cornering people like this because in my town, folks like to carry guns and he might not be too lucky down the road.
I cannot believe this!!! The B@lls of this man to come to my house. I told him I was filing bankruptcy this week and he had the nerve to ask if I had already paid the lawyer yet because I guess people tell him this all the time, thank God it's the truth. I told him to just contact him and gave the atty. information. That is just shocking. I cannot believe the nerve. He gave me his card that said he was from Operations and Recovery, but he doesn't even work for the credit union. He's just a guy they sold my acct. to. Is it legal for this man to just come to my home.
I'm glad he didn't catch me in a really bad mood, because I probably would have told him so not so nice things about why he should NEVER come to my house again.
I'm filing BK today or tomorrow and I'm giving the atty. this guy's contact information, but I was always afraid someone would come to my house either to serve me with papers for a lawsuit or something, but just to collect, that's harsh. Credit unions are evil, I don't ever want to deal with another one EVER!!!Filed Chapter 7 (Primarily Business Expenses) 04/10/2008 FICO 468 :cry:

I hear ya. If he ever comes back, I've had enough time to mentally prepare myself for what I will say and/or do. That's such an invasion of privacy. The creditor has the right to call/write and even sue, but to send a huge man to my house, that's nuts.
I'm with you aachudneymiles, if he comes back, I might make the national news because it won't be pretty. I hope this is an isolated incident because if not, there will be dead collectors all over the country soon.Filed Chapter 7 (Primarily Business Expenses) 04/10/2008 FICO 468 :cry:

Here is my other post:
Hey I used to be that "dead beat" guy who worked for a lot CU's...LOL OK maybe I didn't dress or look like a dead beat but I was really successful at getting people to pay. If I wasn't out doing repos that day driving the 'sneaker' truck then I was in an ex green police car with spot light and five antenna's (yes they all worked) on it and wore a suit and tie. You would be surprised when I pulled up and walked to the door with a leather folder, suit and sun glasses how many people would look past me and see the car and when I talked to them about their account they were so cooperative and ready to make a payment...LOL
With a name like BIGBOY I wonder why they hired you to come to peoples home and intimidated them. Ohh I am sorry I meant let them know "what is going to happen if you ignore this"
Regardless if they are paid a flat fee or per customer they scared someone into writing a check. Their still payed to intimidated and guess what?? Some debtor's get threaten with this .." we will send someone out to your home "
But this thread it dead .. Because it's obvious
Have a good one*Filed Chp 7 bk 11/13/07 PRO SE :yahoo::yahoo:[x]

Not even half way through your post I decided to stop reading it, it's long and unnecessary. You have a opinion and I have a opinion (we disagreed). Like I said, this post is dead. I understand your feeling the need to put your 2 cents in, so that was your moment of fame now shut the hell up and move on.
Stop living the past!!
All you do is post stuff about your old jobs over and over, thread after thread.
Here you go, a responds to your saying I put things in people mouth.

Ok, BigBoy and aachudney, you've both had your say and have agreed to disagree. Any more "flame" posts and one of us mods will lock this thread to prevent further posting.
