    Chase

Anyone here have any luck nego. with Chase Credit Cards?

I have been able to nego great deals today with almost all my other creditors, looks like BK 13 is not out of the picture!!

Chase however, is offering VERY little in the way of debt settlement or payment plan. Will do payment plan, but still very high...will reduce interest to 6%.

I have now only missed 2 pmts with all my Chase Cards (all 5 of them)...give them more time and maybe they will come around??

Bank of Am. was excellent by the way. Great nego to settle debt and broke payments into 3 months! AM Express was super too.

Wish I knew they would do this BEFORE I paid the darn lawyer 1274.00!!!!

I don't have any personal experience with Chase. I do have exceptional 5-year terms with BOA/MBNA.

I'm getting nowhere with CAP1. I call them everyday and ask to speak with someone who can help me out! The problem is that even the "supervisors" I speak to can barely speak English. I'm not attempting to make derogatory statements here, however, the closest I can seem to get to a CAP1 representative spans a distance of 3000 miles. LOL

You should call Chase everyday, and tell them that you need better terms.

The nice thing about knowing you can file a BK is that you are truly in charge.

    Just my humble opnion.

Chase is a pain in the butt, I even got reps who said they would not negotiate to a good paying customer. You have to be "late," to negotiate (total BS). They even had the audacity to tell me I wouldn't be able to file BK. Little did they know - absolutely NOTHING!

      Best of Luck, Catchmeifyoucan

Just be weary if you negotiate a lower price to pay off your debt you could be sent a 1099 on the forgiven debt and owe taxes on THAT!

Yep, well that is what I thought with Chase. I will just let them simmer for awhile longer. The majority of my CC debt is with them, so I hope they see the light.

Cap. 1 I only owe $600.00 to, well before the late fees that was.

BOA was exceptional...we have 2 cards with them, about $ 6K, wiped it down to $ 2300.00, and broke that into 3 pmts.

We also have 2 HSBC/Direct Merchants CC's, they total about $ 8500.00, I have yet to work on them, as I need to get these taken care of 1st, then tackle them.

I was so mad that I paid the lawyer $ 1274.00 to file BK 13, without looking into this first, but maybe with the CC co.'s knowing I had retained a lawyer to file BK it has helped with them wanting to make deals. Also, if this all cannot be worked out, I can still file at a later time.

Yes, BOA did tell us they would send us a 1099. But that is OK...we both claim married, but WH at a single rate, so we should be covered this year.

I filed in 05. At about the 150 day mark of my default, Chase offered an unsolicited settlement of 45%. I didn't pursue any details since, I'd decided I was better off filing bk.

If you are insolvent (your liabilities exceed your assets) then you can exclude the 1099-C as being counted as income on your taxes. It's all in IRS Publication 908. If you would like more details on this, let me know and I can give them to you.

Do yourself a favor. Check everything I say with a bankruptcy attorney. Most attorneys will even provide a free initial consultation. In fact, it's your life, so check everything anyone says (including your attorney) for yourself!

Just in case, I would like the details. One never knows what a year down the road will bring.

                Thank you
