How would your employer know it is a prepaid debit account? All the good pre-paid cards have a 16 digit VISA/MC number linked to a bank with a very real routing number and different account number. Whether or not it is checking or savings should not matter. The nine digit routing number and account number assigned by some bank to your 16 digit debit card should work fine.
Someone said GEMB is the banking firm that holds funds for Walmart debit cards. Even though the debit card does not constitute a bank account, the card has to be linked to an actual bank somewhere. Such a bank would need to have a nine-digit routing number and a separate hoding accunt number that is only a link to your debit number.
I find it odd that your employer won't direct deposit to your prepaid debit card "pseudo" bank account. Again, how would they even know the numbers you give them are attached to a prepaid card?
