Being Sued by Chase Credit Card....

Being Sued by Chase Credit Card for about 9k.... I filed an answer to the summons back in Oct..... I have been checking with the court every week since Oct and nothing has happened yet... no court date, nothing....

Until just yesterday....through the mail -

They sent me "proof of service" saying that they are
    changing attorneys......??

Just wondering if anyone would know why they would do this?

    thanks, techno

Hi Techno: If you dont mind, how many payment did you miss before you got the letter from them. How long they called your phone before they tried to sue you? Thanks.
I am NOT an attorney, anything I say here is not a legal advice.

What state are you in? They raided my bank account - I never received anyofficial judgment from them.

Hmmmm. About 3 years ago, hubby owed then $9500ish. He ignored their letters and calls for about 7 months - sent in no payments. They sent him to collections and he eventually settled with them for about 60 cents on the dollar.

OMG! Chase is the worst about calling us...

We missed one payment to them so far, not even 30 days late yet (will be on the 28th) and they call every day at least 10 times a day. We owe them about $9500. We have gotten one letter from them just reminding us that we "missed a payment". Honestly, we just ignore the phone calls because we are planning to file very soon.

I read in that article about credit card defaults someone posted on here that they have the lowest default rate right now, which they attribute to their aggressive account management. Bordering on harassment tactics if you ask me *lol*

              Merry Christmas all!

I didn't owe them that much, but I was current on my accounts. Maybe I owed, $2500?

Chase is notorious for coming after their monies unless you get the debt discharged in chp 7. See if you can have the debt reduced significantly, and work with the attorney to get a feasible repayment plan, etc in place.

just though of something that might be fun. Plan to spend a day calling chase over and over and say, "guess what, I didn't pay my bill one time, would you like to speak to me about that??"

Ok I might be a nerd, but that would just be fun to do! oh, and ask them to please mark down on your account that you called each time.

I actually was calling Chase a couple times a day, literally! Telling them I'll be sending them so much money, negotiating etc. At one point I told them I was filing Bk, and I was getting ready to, the unexperienced rep said that I wasn't allowed to file because I had just opened the account (well the account had been opened in Dec 2005 and I filed in June 2006! How dare she! I was only like a week late and I was disputing a finance charge. I was a good paying customer up until the time I actually had to file, one rep told me that unless I was really late like in default they wouldn't negotiate with me. I asked: YOU MEAN TO TELL ME A GOOD PAYING CUSTOMER, you won't negotiate with? She was so wrong, so I took it up with her supervisor. I had alot of cash advances throughout the time I had the credit card but they reflected on my statements as "grocery charges," because this guy owned a convenience store he would have the money and let me take out like $500-$1000 on the card! So it never showed I had any cash advances with the card - ever. I didn't get any objections from them either, they only filed a claim since they thought I was going to be in Ch.13 even after I converted, I didn't get one objection from any of my creditors. :

Call them about 100 over the whole day....
I would just start laughing by the 2nd or 3rd call!

                        : )

Sure you did, otherwise they would not have been able to raid your bank account. If you weren't served, you should have challenged the default judgment.

Changing lawyers is far from unusual, and there's just no way to know WHY it happened. They served you with the required notice of the change.
