I was readin through the court docs for this case, cuz' im a nerd like that, and what better thing to do at 5am on thursday morning?!
Some sad and disturbing parts from the court docs, now, keep in mind, this is all regarding a third party, who has nothing to do with the debt..
The court docs said that on one occasion they called this third party, 4 times, in about a 2 hour period, at her place of employment. This after being told almost a dozen times, that she did not have her contact information and did not live at her address and to stop calling.
They also told this third party, that they would file a BBB report against her employer if she did not provide them with contact information.
This third party was also a manager, and when one of her employee's answered the phone, they started to insult him as well. They told this employee that they would find out where he lived and personally visit the store to "settle the situation"
She had to pay a credit monitoring service to watch her credit for unauthorized pulls from MCRA..
She was awarded:
$30.00 to cover the costs of the credit monitoring service she already paid for
$9,687.60 to cover the cost of the service for the next 54 years.
and $100,000 for driving her crazy.
Heres hoping this will send a message to others. I'm sure it won't, but one can dream.........
The docs btw, took over 100 paragraphs to document all the callsLast edited by whywhywhy; 12-20-2007, 04:09 AM.

Here's a link to another site that has the ruling. A very long read and just stunning that anyone could be so stupid.
