    So confusing to me

Some of the things that are and aren't legal just plain don't make sense to me.

I live in Texas and I recently received notice that a creditor had been granted a judgement against me. They can't garnish my wages, but they can levy my bank account? It seems so crazy because it is essentially the same thing! The only thing in my bank account is my wages! I'm very frustrated by this.

I know I need to stop direct deposit and just deal in cash, but in reality I can't do that forever. Also, I get paid monthly and I am very uncomfortable keeping cash. I could get robbed, or who knows what.

I just feel like I don't have a lot of options right now. I can't afford to make payments to the creditor at the present time and I'm worried about the effect bankruptcy would have on my family. The judgement is huge and with a 10% interest rate it is never going to be paid off anyways. I really don't know what to do.

    Thanks for letting me vent!

Sounds like BK is the way to go. It will stop the judgement in it's tracks.

If you leave it in your account you'll get robbed too. If you have someone that you trust maybe they can open a non-interest bearing checking account, with an ATM/debit card, that you can use until the smoke clears.

Don't transfer any assets like that if you are planning on filing bankruptcy soon. It could make it more complicated.

Personally speaking, I'd rather take my chances with robbers stealing my well-hidden cash than creditors seizing my checking account. I live in the barrios of Phoenix and I have never had anything of great value stolen from me by my illegal alien neighbors.

But it sounds like you really need to consider filing bankruptcy as soon as possible. Living the judgment proof life is not for everybody.

There are pay day loan companies that allow you to open a "debit card," account and have you paychecks deposited directly in that account, that is just one option. Stay away from getting a pay day loan, just inquire about that service I mentioned.
