Some of the things that are and aren't legal just plain don't make sense to me.
I live in Texas and I recently received notice that a creditor had been granted a judgement against me. They can't garnish my wages, but they can levy my bank account? It seems so crazy because it is essentially the same thing! The only thing in my bank account is my wages! I'm very frustrated by this.
I know I need to stop direct deposit and just deal in cash, but in reality I can't do that forever. Also, I get paid monthly and I am very uncomfortable keeping cash. I could get robbed, or who knows what.
I just feel like I don't have a lot of options right now. I can't afford to make payments to the creditor at the present time and I'm worried about the effect bankruptcy would have on my family. The judgement is huge and with a 10% interest rate it is never going to be paid off anyways. I really don't know what to do.
Thanks for letting me vent!
