    Should he switch banks?

My son's ex live in girlfriend cashed her payckecks and gave him the cash for her 50 % portion of the rent other household expenses.
    He then paid them, online
She had several credit cards IN HER NAME only. She gave him the funds for the minimum payments on those cards. Like with the household expenses, he then made the minimum payments online - which required giving the credit card companies his banking information, ABA/Transit #, and account #. Note - every month it was just a one time payment to each, not a blanket monthly payment/deduction authorization.
But those credit card companies have his banking information.
She recently left him, and moved somewhere else. He doesn't know where, but apparently didn't file a change of address with the credit card companies either so her credit card bills come to his place. Sends her bills back with a note that she "Moved, left no address".
Question: Since those credit card outfits have his banking information in their data base, can they legally initiate future withdrawals from his account?
While he could go through the hassle of disputing any of those withdrawals and therefore get any and all funds back, wouldn't it be much easier for him just to switch banks?

With one time payments, each payment has to be initiated by the person paying the bill. They cannot take payments out automatically.

Just have him delete all of his info from the system he uses to pay.

Worse case sceniro go to his bank explain the situation and close that account and open a new account with the same bank just a new acount number. I went through something similar and the bank actually suggested this because it is a hassle to get money back once it is gone and it would make him feel better. While it was a one time only thing they do have the information saved and he cant erase the information in their system only she can as she is the card holder.and if his ex by chance has his old account number that could also raise cause for concern.
Sometimes life make you deal with ugly and hateful people ,just think of them as sand paper. They may scratch you and rub you the wrong way but eventually you end up smooth and polished and the sand paper becomes old and worn out.

I'm with familyof7. Have your son close those bank accounts and open new ones.

Even though those cards belong to the ex girlfriend, if he's made payments for her he may still have access to her accounts. If he does, have him delete any information that is his.

But I would still suggest closing those bank accounts of his and opening new ones.

the thing is SHE can go online and make payments using his account information! Or she can call the credit card company and simply say "please make my payment using the same account as last time!" He should open a new account immediately just to be safe. Its not worth the risk. I would not be worried about the credit card company though, I would be worried about her having access more.

This is why I suggested he delete his bank account information. The information will be deleted, I'm sure. And yes, close that bank account also.

              Just "double check" measures.

I was under the impression that they have to have a judgment for touching your checking account.

some credit card companies won't let you just remove information without adding additional information. plus like I said before, she could call and say "please pay my bill using the same account as the last time" Its just too risky to take the chance. its way too easy to just open a new account and be done with it!
