Has anyone tried to waiting a year to file? Maybe pay the creditors a little here and there for a year? I haven't paid them for 6 months already. I'm in Iowa.

I'm not sure why you would want to wait? The sooner you file, the sooner you are finished. Sometimes the prep work can take a while to gather and complete. Mine took six months. My opinion, the sooner the better. During the six months of prep work, I did not pay any creditors outside of my mortgage and car payment. I used the money that would have gone to creditors to replace my sump pump, do other important household repairs as well as pay my attorney. -
Id like to pay my brother as he will be a creditor. After paying him from inheritance wait a year to file so he isn't asked to surrender my payment.
