Has anyone tried to waiting a year to file? Maybe pay the creditors a little here and there for a year? I haven't paid them for 6 months already. I'm in Iowa.
TIA
I'm not sure why you would want to wait? The sooner you file, the sooner you are finished. Sometimes the prep work can take a while to gather and complete. Mine took six months. My opinion, the sooner the better. During the six months of prep work, I did not pay any creditors outside of my mortgage and car payment. I used the money that would have gone to creditors to replace my sump pump, do other important household repairs as well as pay my attorney.
Id like to pay my brother as he will be a creditor. After paying him from inheritance wait a year to file so he isn't asked to surrender my payment.
thanks
