I am filing for Chapter 7 in mid-February, when I get my tax return to pay for it. I've just been served, so I need to answer or get an automatic judgment in 30 days. It is an original creditor suing me, and they've included a copy of one of my last bills (January 2016), with their summons. I was served by a Sheriff in my county.
What can I do to buy myself some extra time? I can't claim it's not my debt. The fee for chapter 7 will include getting rid of any judgments, but I'd like to avoid them if I can. I don't think 30 days is enough time for them to start garnishing my wages, but I'd rather not risk it. I only need 60 days.
